In 2021, when the world celebrated skateboarding’s rise to the Olympic stage in Tokyo, we’ve turned our sights on pools and parks far from the global spotlight. Skate Nation Ghana tells the story of Ghana’s burgeoning skateboarding scene, and how they used Facebook’s apps to build a culture that is now influencing skaters around the the world.

The film was directed by Bafic, Elliott Power and Justyna Obasi and was the first work of Daniel Wolfe’s new production company Love Song.

Authenticity was key to bringing this story to life. We shot on real locations across Ghana, used Ghanaian music, including a favorite track of the skate crew, and collaborated with Accra-based artist D.A. Jasper to imbue the film with the iconic visual language of Ghanaian sign-painters.
